We have released a major Accessibility Update for Cosmonious High. Building on Owlchemy’s “VR for Everyone” design philosophy, the update introduces one-handed mode, dynamic height adjustments, localization improvements, and more. These improvements are beneficial for all players and makes Cosmonious High accessible to more people without sacrificing gameplay. See the full list of updates below.
Accessibility improvements:
- Game is now playable in one-handed mode
- One-handed mode is enabled automatically when one controller is off
- There is a new tutorial for changing powers in one-handed mode (double-tap powers button)
- Game is now fully playable while seated
- This includes the ability to get all credits while seated
- Height adjustment handles are found on tables with high interactions
- Hoop behind the Yuwin Cosmonious statue is lower and easier to open
- Position of character hands in the orientation “hands in” sequence is now dynamic (based on the player’s eye level)
- Time orbs are now larger, making them easier to see and grab
- Scrolling news screens throughout the school are slower, making them easier to read
- Food carousel in cafe can be gripped anywhere along the bottom for ease of interaction
- Captions while using the Spectator Camera have updated formatting to be more legible
- Reminder tutorials now appear at the end of each power adaptation sequence to remind the user how to activate the power
Localization:
- Updated some lines to provide more context in their respective languages
- Some important in-world text now is localized (changed based on selected subtitle language)
- The page titles in the backpack are localized
- The cassette tape player shows the name of the cassette and whether the tray is open
- The text that says “UNLOCKED” on the keypad for the grand hall statue is localized
- The text on the assignment terminal for “Insert to Start” is now localized
- Blackboards in the classrooms now have some of the assignment completion text localized
- The assignment complete effect that flies out to the player has text localized
- Assignment names and descriptions are now localized on assignment cards.
- Added icons to small human mode switches in Registration and in the backpack.
- Added an icon to the exit button in the backpack (on the button cover)
- Added an icon to the credits poster in the backpack
Inclusivity improvements:
- Speech orb tray now lists characters’ pronouns under their name
- Photos of characters now list their pronouns
Other improvements:
- The last page in the backpack has only 4 card slots (improved goal clarity)
- Goo piles have new animations to provide feedback for wind and fluid powers
- The organ keys don't play when the organ height is adjusted
- When looking for sunspot's medication, a hint image showing the medication (rather than the bus key) is presented
