Throughout Flawless Abbey, you will see these symbols watching you — following you everywhere. What could they mean?
Sometimes they can give you answers, sometimes they might even help you get out of certain traps — you must pay attention to them.
Symbolism in any art medium — whether it’s art, tv or movies, — is always being used as a way to convey a more profound meaning.
Especially in games, everything from color palette, audio choices and background assets is used to either directly contribute to the narrative imagery or indirectly add more lore into your story.
Symbolism can be applied in different ways — In Flawless Abbey there are a lot of themes being discussed underneath the story.
For today we will focus on lore-related symbolism used in the icons appearing in our main character’s journey.
The Characters of Flawless Abbey are in crisis — the fate of their lives depends on what they do in the real world and what the dream world does to them.
Their only hope for surviving the darkness are the Dream Seekers - the only ones brave enough to travel in between the dream world and the reality.
The icons scattered around the game each represent one of the Dream Seekers and will be watching and supporting you throughout your journey
Here is a poem about the legendary Dreamseekers:
From the purest of hearts,
The deepest of eyes,
A sentence that’s finished, even if never starts
A hand that was free, is taken once more
A scherzo that’s played with a fiery soul -
is nothing like you have heard ever before.
Inside the poem, if you pay attention to the verses, you can see who the Dreamseekers are — The Deep Eye, the Free Hand, and others. Try and find them all!
Each Dreamseeker has a talent that distinguishes them from the rest. “(...) nothing like you have heard ever before.” refers to the mythical Dream Seeker known as The Silent One - who might be deaf, but has a remarkably unique way of exploring silent dreams.
If you want to succeed on your journey, you will need to learn the truth about those who have braved the dreams before you. Their guidance will lead you — and you’ll need all the knowledge you can get to complete this mission.
