A Year of Left on Read

Left on Read · published 20 May 2021, 00:26 UTC

What did I learn?

I learned a lot about myself, people I knew, and complete strangers. I've received hundreds of messages from people who loved my game, and hundreds of reviews from people who thought it was cringe. And that's awesome. The beauty of games, and all art, is that it changes depending on the lens you view it through.

Above everything, I learned:

Sometimes, you should wait.
Even if you were too late.

What have I been up to?

I developed and published a game about working in mine called Frick Frack:

I'm also working on an adventure game called HARU. Please wishlist HARU on Steam:

HARU will be shown at the Steam Next Fest and I will be livestreaming it! Set a reminder to watch:

June 17th and June 19th

I also worked on a cute co-op game called Come with Me!

Since it's release, a second hasn't gone by without someone around the world play Left on Read. That's crazy to think about. Left on Read's relevance is still pertinent. The pandemic has caused endless tragedies and although it's getting better, it's not over yet. I look forward to the day that Left on Read is completely irrelevant.

There's someone searching for you in every soul they meeting. You'll fill the ache in your heart. I know I did.

Thank you for playing my silly little video game.

Love,
Weston

Night falls. Spirits rise. Some are friendly, and some are not. Journey into the Icelandic wilderness as Haru, a young girl searching for her lost sister. You made me so passionate about the simple things. I thought that feeling would last forever. Frick Frack is a puzzle simulation game about hurting what you love the most. You play as a miner digging wells for a fracking company. You must find the perfect work-life balance but the work you do directly affects the world around you. Good luck.
