Frost & Item Changes (v.1.3.3)

Patch 1.3.3

A substantial change this patch is changing the max Frost stacks from 5 to 10. This is to allow effects based on Frost to scale more gradually over combat. Several Frost items and abilities have been adjusted due to this change.

The debuff at max stacks is staying the same, Frost is not now twice as effective. While setting the max stacks at 5 made sense in the initial iterations of the game, it became too easy a cap to hit later on. Having a higher number of stacks also makes it a much easier effect to design items around.

With this change, the Frostmancer won't have such an easy time obliterating groups of enemies. There are no changes to how the Frostmancer works overall, it will just require a little more investment to pull off. A mechanic with the Frostmancer I'll point out which isn't too clear - their active ability applies Frost from their passive BEFORE calculating damage and stun duration. This means a fully upgraded Frostmancer can still reap havoc with no support whatsoever, splashing Frost between enemies for many additional Frost stacks.

General Changes:

  • Frost can now stack 10 times, and has had its effect per stack halved.
  • The end of game victory window has been shifted so the heroes aren't covered.
  • The Puzzling Box Act 3 event has had its Morale cost reduced, and has a 3x higher chance of giving the item exclusive to the event.
  • Added a particle effect when MP is stolen (Witch Stick).

Frost Related Changes:

  • Frostmancer passive ability - Applying Frost is now guaranteed.
  • Frostmancer active ability - Additional damage per Frost has been reduced 40% and Stun per stack has been reduced 50%.
  • Bottled Blizzard (potion) - Now applies 5 Frost instead of 3 (10 with the stronger potions blessing).
  • Fenrir's Bane (common) - Now applies 2/3/4 Frost instead of 1/2/3.
  • Sleetstone Sabre (common) - Your Attacks have a 30%/60%/90% chance to apply Frost to your target > Your Attacks have a 50% chance to both apply Frost and deal 3/6/9 Piercing damage for each stack of Frost on your target.
  • Tundra Talisman (rare) - Apply 1/2/3 Frost to a random enemy every 2 seconds > Apply 1/2/3 Frost to all enemies every 3 seconds.
  • Frozen Shell (rare) - 10/20/30 DEF > 15/30/45 DEF.
  • Frozen Shell (rare) - Increase your Defense by 3/6/9 for every active stack of Frost > Increase your Defense by 1/2/3 for every active stack of Frost.
  • Avalanche (ancient) - Your Attacks remove a stack of Frost from your target. If successful, you deal 50%/100%/150% Attack Damage to your target and any adjacent enemies > When you Attack, if your target has 10 Frost, remove all Frost and deal 350%/700%/1050% Attack Damage to your target and any adjacent enemies.

Item Changes:

  • Bandit Hood (rare) - Your Attacks have a 4%/8%/12% chance to find 1 Gold > Your Attacks have a 5%/10%/15% chance to find 1 Gold.
  • Bandit Hood (rare) - Now has a sound effect when it activates.
  • Forgotten Idol (rare) - Now always hits your target. Now has a passive 10/20/30 Starting MP.
  • Book of the First (rare) - Every 5/4/3 times you Attack, gain 1 Negate > Every 5/4/3 times you Attack, you and a random adjacent ally gain Negate.
  • Book of the First (rare) - No longer gives a passive SPD bonus.
  • Seed Relic (event) - Now applies Poison at the start of combat and every 5 seconds, instead of every 3 seconds.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed the Bard and Spore Spewer not triggering enemy effects when attacking.
  • Fixed a gold exploit from reward windows.
  • Fixed Helm of the Mad King not adding its new values from a past patch.
  • Fixed a rare bug where the Hydra would be defeated before every head was gone.
