Hot Brass: Update 1.0.9

Hi all,

We've just pushed version 1.0.9 live!

This patch contains fixes for a number of reported issues. While this patch doesn't address text chat, we are aiming to release another one in the next day or two that will make text chat a little easier (and more useful).

Version 1.0.9 contains a couple of important changes to gameplay based on player feedback:

  • NPCs blocking doors from opening: When an NPC is blocking a door from opening, the player will now apply all of their might to the door, smashing it and stunning the NPC in the process. While this may not be a perfect solution, it feels like the best of our options. And because this doesn't occur too frequently, our hope is that it's a bit exciting for players when they do see the opportunity?
  • NPCs blocking everywhere else: Players can now step over all compliant NPCs (previously it was just detained). This means that once an NPC no longer poses a possible threat (ignoring that they may pick up another firearm), players can move past them to deal with more pressing threats.
  • Tase buffers: We've made some tweaks to how taser infractions are calculated, to be a little more tolerance of errant presses, particularly for players who favour tasing in short bursts. Note: All previous tasing rules still apply. However players who accidentally tase after an NPC has become compliant should find they avoid an infraction if they (reasonably promptly) correct themselves now.

We'd of course love to hear your feedback on all of these changes, and thanks everyone for your feedback and bug reports so far! We're reading all of them, so if something you've reported hasn't been fixed yet, we do intend to get to it!

Incidentally, we've had a number of players report the AI essentially stopping after prolonged play. If anyone experiences this in the future, it would be incredibly useful to use if you could provide us with game logs. There are instructions on obtaining the logs here. (Important: You must follow those steps before you quit!)

Please report any bugs you find in this thread!

Changelog:

  • Fixed how the game displays in 16:10 resolutions
  • Fixed bushes rustle sound on client when stepping over NPCs
  • Changed sorting order of some minimap icons so they can't be hidden by others
  • Fixed melee enemies being able to punch in smoke
  • Fixed NPCs blocking doors (player smash)
  • Compliant NPCs can now be stepped over
  • Adjusted how tase infractions are calculated
  • Fixed NPCs picking up a weapon but not becoming hostile
  • Fixed rare occurrence of NPCs not becoming compliant when they should
  • Fixed error on clients that would cause them to teleport to the corner of the map
