Venba has been cooking for a while, so we thought it was time we posted a development update and the game's status.
The team just wrapped up a playable level where players will cook a delicious dish famous in Kerala called "Puttu." Puttu is made from steamed rice flour and grated coconuts. It's a simple and delicious dish to cook, and it's often served for breakfast. It's most commonly served with kadalai kari (A side dish made with Chickpeas, onions, masalas and more!), but it can also be served with things like beef/chicken kari.
It is a very versatile dish with a lot of variations.
This is maybe the biggest and most complicated level in the game. It contains some of the most complex animations and dynamic scenes in the game. The gameplay also required special scripting as making puttu is a unique process.
We had a lot of fun building this level, and it made us even happier when we saw how much fun our playtesters had with it! Tackling a complex level like this also gives us a lot of confidence for building the rest of the game. We can't wait for you all to cook puttu along with the other wonderful dishes in Venba!
With the puttu level behind us, we're firing on all cylinders for the next level, where players will be making the iconic breakfast staple, Idlis. We will share more about that level once it's complete!
