Hey there!
We're really excited to have been invited to be a part of the Steam Game Festival - taking place on June 16th to 22nd - and to get to show you the game we've been spending the past few years putting together.
Wayward Strand is our heartfelt interactive narrative game, with a curious real-time twist. In it, you play as Casey, a teenage girl, and a budding journalist, who explores an airborne hospital, and gets to know the patients and staff on board.
Part of the reason making Wayward Strand has taken so long is that it has quite an experimental structure, inspired by immersive theatre - each character in the game has their own storyline which plays out simultaneously, on a shared timeline with the player - so as you explore the world of Wayward Strand over the course of three in-game days, everything moves and lives around you.
The characters that you spend time with in Wayward Strand are the heart of our story - they're funny, quiet, sarcastic, complex, lovely, lonely, and sometimes a bit rude. Wayward Strand is set in the geriatric ward of the airborne hospital, and the entire space is filled out with characters, from the wonderful and varied elderly patients, to the staff that look after them and who keep the place running.
We're going to be doing a special, live developer play-through of Wayward Strand for the Steam Game Festival - set a reminder for this event, and you'll be notified when we go live!
During the live-stream we'll be introducing you to some of these characters and their stories (but we'll do our best to keep it spoiler-light), as well as showing you some of the nooks and crannies of this experimental, beautiful experience we've put together.
The process of creating Wayward Strand has been a wonderful journey, and we're chuffed to get to share more about it with you all.
