Greetings, everyone! I’m the level designer of the LaserZone. We hope you are staying healthy in this global pandemic.
I wrote down the very first Dev Log two weeks ago. You might be wondering what has happened since then, so I decided to write another Dev Log to communicate with everyone. Besides, I didn’t want to leave the Newsfeed for too long.
As mentioned in the previous Log, one of our top priorities is overhauling and improving our Boss-fight experience. Boss-fights from Chapter 3 to 6 felt too challenging because of how frantic they were, and some mechanics were unintuitive and unfair for the player.
Currently, an overhaul for Chapter 3, 4, and 5 has been completed. Our programmer is at hard work implementing the design decisions for Chapter 6. The final Boss-fight is also the most lengthy one, so it’ll take some additional time to finish (but not longer than a week).
Here are some sneak-peek photos from our Boss-fights. Spoiler alert!

I refer to this fight as ‘Spider hell’. By the way, those small things explode.

Curve the bullets, curve the laser.

Can you figure out how to solves these puzzles in time?
Currently, our table(list) for all necessary SFXs is completed.
As our next step, we’ve contacted an outsource responsible for producing the much-needed sound effects. Based on my expectations, it will approximately take a week or two to finish said work.

Our sound table written in Korean. LaserZone needs 185 new sound files, but this might change in the future.
We are also improving our Main, Pause, Options Menu and In-game UI as we speak.
We’ve delivered a new framework to another outsource so that we could get additional resources for improved interfaces. They promised our team to return the results in two weeks.

Framework for Pause and Options Menu, made by me.
English Localization is 99% complete. I’m responsible for this task, and I only need to translate a few Logs for lore while filling out the missing names for bonus stages.
That’s it for today.
LaserZone’s release is coming soon. We can’t wait to show the game to our fans and the world!
Thank you for reading, and stay strong.
Signing off,
Jung Hwan Hwang
